Venue 1696 @ Rice Hope is conspicuously nestled amongst the banks of the Cooper River with arguably the best sunset in all of Charleston and the Tri-county area. A 285 acre rice field is the back-drop for the venue that reflects the sunset, sky and trees which frame this breathtaking location. Over 40 grand Live Oaks, on ten acres, accompanied by 600 feet of river front to include an 1840's Camelia and Azalea garden designed by Loutrel Briggs nestles the 7000 square foot Antebellum home. Rice Hope dates back to 1696, thus the Venue 1696 @ Rice Hope.

HOW DO WEDDINGS AND RECEPTIONS WORK AT VENUE 1696 ?~ Guests may enter through the front doors of Rice Hope and go through the foyer to the back patio which leads down to the garden and waterfront. The waterfront event area has ample space for weddings up to 200. Smaller wedding parties may choose the garden or front circle as an alternative event site. The event space is strictly outdoor with the exception of the rental cottage that is limited to a capacity of 15. Tents are highly recommended as well as bathroom trailers. Included with the event rental is a living room for the immediate wedding party, a room for the groomsmen with a porch, a small bathroom, and a bridal suite suitable for hair, makeup and dressing.
ADD ONS~ EXTRA DAYS ARE CHARGED AT A RATE OF $500 per day after any consecutive days or any portion thereof
~A 460 SQ FT COTTAGE IS AVAILABLE FOR $450 / DAY (minimum 2 days)

This illustrious venue showcases a stunning home built in the 1700's that sits atop the Western branch of the Cooper River nestled amongst groves of live oaks. The venue is a natural showcase for all forms of wildlife including beautiful flora, bald eagles, deer, owls, foxes and many other friends only nature can host. Conveniently located near the Francis Marion Forest, adjacent to Bonneau Ferry, 40 minutes to Mt. Pleasant, 30 minutes to McClellanville, 50 minutes to downtown Charleston, Venue 1696 @ Rice Hope is truly a one of a kind gem that surrounds herself in all of nature's glory.
